We know how important fast internet is when you’re travelling — so we’ve upgraded our entire system to give you super-fast, reliable Wi-Fi throughout the property! Simply grab the password from reception, connect to the Ashanti network, and you’re online in seconds. No laptop or smartphone? No problem! We have two guest computers available for use at a small fee, and we’re also happy to print your boarding passes or any other documents you may need.

Every guest gets their own personalised digital safe — yes, even in the dorms — so you can securely store your valuables while you’re out enjoying the city. Checking out but still have hours before your flight? We’ve got you covered with convenient day safes to keep your belongings secure until you're ready to head to the airport. If you’re staying in a shared dorm, you’ll also find individual under-bed lockers for extra peace of mind. Just bring your own padlock — and if you forget, don’t worry, we sell them at reception. And because we know everyone travels with multiple devices these days, we’ve added USB charging stations throughout the property to keep you powered up and ready for adventure!
✈️🚖 Airport Transfers
Getting to and from Ashanti couldn’t be easier! We offer a 24-hour meet-and-greet airport pickup for just R330 per trip (for up to 4 guests with luggage). Simply email info@ashanti.co.za with your flight number and arrival time, and we’ll take care of the rest. Need a lift back to the airport? You can book your return transfer quickly and easily at reception — same price, same convenience. Prefer public transport? The MyCiti bus runs from the airport to the Civic Centre downtown, where you can hop onto a connecting bus to Gardens and hop off at the Mount Nelson Hotel — just a short stroll from Ashanti. Check their website for routes and schedules. And of course, Uber is always an easy option too!
🔒 Your Security
Your safety and peace of mind are our top priority at Ashanti. Our property features secure access control at both the main gate and building entrance, and you’ll receive your own unique PIN code at check-in for 24-hour access. From 7pm to 7am, our on-site security guard ensures extra reassurance for late arrivals and those heading home after a night out. We also operate a network of CCTV cameras throughout the premises, monitoring activity and keeping a watchful eye on all public areas. As with any major city, Cape Town is best enjoyed with a bit of common sense — avoid walking alone late at night. Our friendly reception team is always on hand to offer advice, provide a map, and point you in the safest and most exciting directions.

All our beds are made up with fresh fitted sheets, pillows, pillowcases and cosy duvets. In winter, we add extra blankets to keep you warm on those chilly Cape Town nights. Towels are provided in all private rooms, but if you’re staying in a dorm, please remember to bring your own — or simply rent one from reception.

One of the best parts of travelling is finally having the time to read! You’ll find our free book exchange in the luggage room, stocked with a wide variety of titles. While it’s always appreciated if you leave a book when you take one, it’s not compulsory. If you’re lucky, you might even stumble upon a Southern Africa travel guide left behind by a fellow adventurer — the perfect companion for planning your onward journey!
SIM Cards & Airtime 📱
Stay connected from the moment you land! We sell local SIM cards and can register them for you right here at reception. If you’d like to have a South African number before you arrive, simply send us your full name, nationality, and passport number — we’ll register your SIM in advance and share your new number so you can pass it on to family and friends. The SIM costs just R20, payable when you collect it on arrival. Just a quick reminder: make sure your phone is unlocked before leaving home! We also sell airtime (cellphone credit) in any amount you need, and it’s loaded directly onto your phone — no paper vouchers, no fuss.

For your convenience, we’re happy to assist with all your postal needs. We can safely hold your incoming mail for collection, and we also provide an outgoing mailbox so your postcards and letters are sure to reach their destinations. Snag a pool lounger early — they’re always popular — or grab a fun float and drift lazily around the pool while you dream up your evening plans.
A note about Parking 🚗
While we don’t have off-street parking, our guests can safely park along the street, which is usually very secure. As always when travelling in South Africa, we recommend not leaving any valuables visible in your car – even a jacket can attract attention! Our on-site security guard keeps an eye on vehicles, and for those with fully loaded cars, secure gated parking is available at a nearby hotel (subject to availability) for a small fee.
